What is Hunger Action Month?
Hunger Action Month is a nationwide initiative led by Feeding America. During the month of September, Feeding America and other organizations are committed to addressing food insecurity across the country.
What is food insecurity?
Individuals who are food insecure may not know where their next meal is coming from. South Dakota alone is home to over 75,000 people who are food insecure.
How can I help?
Feeding South Dakota in Rapid City invites Black Hills locals to join their efforts in packing boxes of food products for those who may be food insecure. Feeding South Dakota and its volunteers work Monday-Friday, 1 p.m.-4 p.m. to provide meals for people who may otherwise go hungry.
I don’t have time to volunteer. Can I donate to Feeding South Dakota?
Yes! Every $1 donation to Feeding South Dakota becomes three meals for individuals who are food insecure. To sign up to volunteer or to make a donation, visit Feeding South Dakota’s website here.
