RAPID CITY, S.D. — Some additional noise was coming from the Ice Arena Saturday night and it wasn’t just for the Rapid City Rush. 11-year-old Jalon Janke made the puck drop on Nickelodeon Night.
“I’ve liked the Rush my whole life and it’s awesome,” Jalon said afterwards.
Jalon’s been battling osteosarcoma, a rare type of bone cancer.
So, the Rush decided to reach out to Jalon’s mom, Emily Delzer, to put together a fundraiser to help cover his medical expenses.
“This community is so amazing, I mean they reached out to me. I don’t know how they heard about Jalon but they’re the ones that wanted to do the fundraiser and do tise event and it makes me fortunate to live in a community like this,” Delzer said.
The Rush also gave Jalon his very own hockey stick. Categories:
